Economics : A Dismal Science

Economics is often called a dismal science. The reason is that economics has one main driving force and that is the efficient allocation of capital. Resources are finite and limited. That means that there is never enough to go around. The fact that there will be losers and winner in resource allocation makes economics to be considered a dismal science.

It is worth noting that a lot of people disagree with the main point of scarcity. Instead, people think that abundance is the norm. People can create and produce anything they wish. The creative mindset is what produces abundance and so people should be able to obtain infinite amount of goods. Some people claim that the United States may become so prosperous that it becomes the first abundant society. The US will be a society of people that have all their needs and most of their wants met without a lot of work required. This may or may not end up being true, but it is certainly possible, if people work together well.
